Are you 'doing' too much?

I'm a 'doer' - are you?

I'm a control freak.  

There - I said it.  I used blame the business.  I told myself that being a business owner means you must wear every hat possible.  You are sales manager, finance manager, HR manager, IT manager, cleaner, administrator and everything in between.  But it doesn't have to be that way.

There are some things that I spent my time doing that I didn't see as a drain on my time.  I thought that as I was doing it myself it was free - of course that's not true.

Then I met a great guy at a networking event; Stuart Carter aka 'The 80/20 guy.  You all know the 80/20 principle right?  Well Stuart produces a great little blog and one post in particular about writing a 'to don't' list caught my eye - and I love the idea.  

He basically says that there are things that you are doing in your business that you should just outsource, spending a little and gaining a lot.  I took his idea and incorporated it into my own working life, outsourcing some admin to a virtual PA and she is brilliant! (You can contact her here if you need help too) She has made a huge difference in a very short time.

It got me thinking that surveys are a great example of something that businesses large and small often do themselves.  But its time consuming and you are biased (trust me).  This is why you need us, why do the work yourself when we can do it for you?
